Shelbyville Chrysler Products Offers Winter Driving Tips

You’re just about to make it to your driveway after a long, harrowing drive in ice, snow and freezing rain when it happens: your car hits an icy patch and skids into a ditch. You’re not injured—well, nothing but your pride—but aren’t looking forward to the time and expense involved in dealing with the insurance company.

Some winter accidents are completely unavoidable. However, in most cases there are certain things that can be done to prevent a fender bender or worse.

First of all, be sure to leave yourself extra time and room to brake. Slamming on one’s brakes is a really bad idea when the roads are slippery. Instead, pump the brakes gently.

If you find that your vehicle is entering a skid, don’t fight it. Instead, take your foot off of the gas and turn gently into the skid. The car or truck will soon right itself.

We have a lot of other helpful tips for winter driving here at Shelbyville Chrysler Products. We’d be happy to discuss them as we browse our lot here in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Here, you’ll find a great selection of both new and pre-owned vehicles.

We hope to see you soon!
